ROBERT IZZO

Robert Izzo is a dedicated public servant and community leader. As a proud resident of Mentor for over 20 years, he has chosen this city as the place to build his life and raise his family. With two children who have attended Mentor Schools—one currently a middle school student—he has a deep, personal investment in the success of the district.

With a distinguished career in public service, Izzo has served Lake County as a Deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, currently holding the position of Chief Deputy. His extensive experience in public education includes his tenure as the School Resource Officer for the Riverside Local School District from 2009 to 2014. Since then, he has led a growing division of School Resource Officers in various supervisory roles, architecting a program that placed an officer in every school within the district—a model that has since been adopted by numerous school districts across the region.

Izzo brings invaluable leadership experience to the Board of Education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University (’02) and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Cincinnati (’14). His professional development includes graduating from the Police Executive Leadership College (’21) and the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy for Law Enforcement Executives (’22). Throughout his career, he has served as Deputy Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain, now overseeing 250 public safety personnel as Chief Deputy of the Sheriff’s Office.

With a strong commitment to school safety, leadership, and responsible decision-making, Robert Izzo is eager to bring his experience and dedication to the Mentor Public Schools Board of Education, ensuring a safe, thriving educational environment for all students.
