Don Schutz is a lifelong resident of Mentor, Ohio, with a deep-rooted commitment to the community and its schools. A proud graduate of Mentor High School’s Class of 1977, Don represents four generations of Mentor High alumni, including his three children. His dedication to education and student development spans over four decades, shaping the lives of countless young people in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.

With 33 years of experience as an educator and 41 years as a coach, Don has spent his entire career helping students grow, succeed, and reach their full potential. He is the former Ohio Gymnastics Coach of the Year and now leads the Northeast Ohio Flag Football League, continuing his commitment to youth enrichment beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Don’s contributions to Mentor City Schools have been recognized through his induction into both the Mentor High School Hall of Fame and the Memorial Jr. High Hall of Fame—a testament to his longstanding impact and leadership.

A conservative voice who values strong character, fiscal responsibility, and student-centered decision-making, Don is a firm believer in the power of opportunity. He is passionate about providing meaningful experiences that help every student become the best version of themselves.
Don Schutz is running for the Mentor Board of Education to give back to the district that has given so much to his family and to help lead it toward a bright and successful future for all students.
